1About us
The Purpose One is THE PURPOSE ONE, Inc., with its registered address at 212 N. 2nd St. STE 100, Richmond, KY 40475, United States (email programs@thepurposeone.org, phone +44 7438 718947). We own and operate the Council for Global Affairs & Development (CGAD) and the Council for Leadership & Global Diplomacy (CLGD). In these terms, “we” and “us” mean The Purpose One.
2What we sell
We sell four categories of booking for the international youth forums, summits and programmes run by CGAD and CLGD:
- a scholarship application: the fee to be considered for the Fully Funded, Partially Funded and Funded Forum Access tracks
- a self-funded delegate place
- a forum or summit access pass
- a visa invitation letter, on its own or included in a place
The event’s page on thecgad.org or theclgd.org lists what each category includes, and that description forms part of your booking. If this website and the event page differ, the event page applies.
3Prices and payment
- Prices are shown on the event page in US dollars. The price shown when you register is the price you pay.
- You pay when you register, in full or in instalments where the checkout offers them, by card or PayPal, as offered at checkout. Payments are received by The Purpose One.
- We send a confirmation by email once your payment has gone through.
- Bank and currency-conversion charges are yours to pay.
4Applications and selection
- Scholarships are awarded on merit through the application process. Paying the application fee does not guarantee selection.
- We may accept or decline any application without giving a reason.
- The information you give us must be accurate. If it is not, we may cancel your place without a refund.
- If you are selected, your award letter sets out exactly what your scholarship covers.
5Paid places
Self-funded places and access passes are confirmed when your payment is received, subject to availability and to the eligibility rules on the event page.
6Eligibility and age
- Each event sets its eligibility rules on its page. Most of our programmes are for people aged 15 to 45.
- Participants under 18 need the consent of a parent or guardian.
- You are responsible for meeting the entry requirements of the host country.
7Visas, travel and insurance
- We do not guarantee that you will get a visa. Any visa help we give is supportive and advisory.
- Unless your category says otherwise, you arrange and pay for your own travel, insurance and other costs. We recommend travel insurance.
8Changes to an event
Schedules, speakers, venues and agendas may change. Institutional visits depend on the host’s approval, scheduling and security clearance. If we postpone or cancel an event, section 9 of the refund and cancellation policy applies.
9Cancellations and refunds
Our refund and cancellation policy is part of these terms. It explains application fees, credit vouchers, the cancellation schedule and how to make a request.
10Conduct
- You must behave professionally and respectfully at every event.
- Harassment, discrimination and disruptive behaviour are not tolerated. We may remove anyone who behaves this way, without a refund.
- You are responsible for any damage you cause.
12Certificates
Certificates are issued to participants who complete the programme requirements set for the event.
13This website and our content
The content of this website, and the names and logos of The Purpose One, CGAD and CLGD, belong to us. Please do not copy them for commercial use without our permission. We try to keep this website accurate, but the event page is the authority on each event’s details.
14Our responsibility to you
- We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care.
- We are not responsible for indirect losses, for losses caused by events outside our control, or for losses caused by third parties you deal with directly, such as airlines or hotels you book yourself.
- Our total liability for any event is limited to the amount you paid us for it.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit.
15Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States, and the courts of Kentucky deal with any dispute. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of any mandatory rules of the law where you live. If something goes wrong, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve it.
16Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version on this page applies to bookings made on or after the date shown at the top.
